Reading Time: 3 minutes

Thanksgiving is a time for family to get together and share a meal and count the many things we have in our lives to feel thankful for. To make the day fun and full of laughter we have chosen the 6 Best Family Games to play on Thanksgiving.

Turkey Tag

Take some clothes pins (you can decorate them if you feel creative.)  Each person gets three pins to put anywhere on their clothing. Let the fun begin! The object of the game is to remove other people’s pins without having your own pins removed. It requires serious dodging and sneakiness. Once all three your pins are removed, you are out of the game. The winner is the last person to have a pin on their clothing.

Alphabet Thankful Game

Play this game around the dinner table. It’s very simple and a good exercise in counting our blessings. Each person says what they are thankful for starting with the first letter in the alphabet and going on to the next. When you reach the end, try to remember what each person was thankful for.

Thanksgiving Charades

Most of us are familiar with the tried and trusted family favorite of Charades but why not give it a twist with a Thanksgiving theme. Try acting out Cranberry Sauce or Thankfulness or Pardon the Turkey! If someone does not like acting but they are happy to guess, they can always give their acting turn to someone else. In that way everyone can play.

Guess How Many

Fill a jar with candy corn or M&M’s and put it in the middle of the dinner table.  Everyone gets to guess how many there are in the jar. Decide on a prize. The winner gets the jar or a prize.

Mini Pumpkin Hunt

Get some mini-pumpkins and hide them all over the house and/or yard. The person who finds the most pumpkins in a specified time period gets a prize. This is good to get people moving or get the kids out of the house.

For Thanksgiving Dinner I had…

This is another favorite. The first player says “For Thanksgiving Dinner I had” and says a food. The next person repeats what was said before and adds their own dish. When someone forgets a dish they are out. See who has the best memory in the family.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you go into the Holiday season with a light and happy heart.
